แกนแสดงถึงความสัมพันธ์กับโหนดบริบท (ปัจจุบัน) และใช้เพื่อระบุตำแหน่งของโหนดที่สัมพันธ์กับโหนดนั้นบนทรี

| namespace | Selects all namespace nodes of the current node |

| preceding | Selects all nodes that appear before the current node in the document, except ancestors, attribute nodes and namespace nodes |

นิพจน์เส้นทางที่ตั้ง
เส้นทางตำแหน่งอาจเป็นแบบสัมบูรณ์หรือแบบสัมพัทธ์
